Self-employed Consultant Automobile Engineer, Claims Assessor and Road Traffic Accident Investigator, holding the relevant qualifications and the necessary experience to undertake this field of work.

Professional Experience

For a period extending in excess of thirty years the courts  have accepted George's qualifications and experience as an expert witness, in road traffic accidents and consulting automobile engineering matters. 


Working knowledge of the reconstruction of incidents and the application of scientific principles to road traffic accidents, including Newton's Laws of Motion.


As a consulting automobile engineer many complex cases have been dealt with in relationship to cars,commercial vehicles,coaches and heavy specialist goods vehicles with problems of a mechanical nature.


This has involved in giving evidence in County, Magistrates, Crown, High Court and Coroner's Courts. to give expert opinion on motor vehicle behaviour in road traffic accidents.

  • Full City and Guilds Technician's Certificate in Motor Vehicle Technology (part 3 with credit).

  • RAC / ACU Motorcycle Training Course Instructor.

  • Institute of Advanced Motorists driving test pass. (membership lapsed)

  • Department of Environment's Approved Driving Instructors (ADI) written examination test pass.

  • Approved by the East Sussex County Council for the driving of mini buses: risk assessment and defensive driving test. (Lapsed)


George T. Mighall does not hold the qualification of being a Class 1 Police Vehicle Driver, as he has never been a serving Police Officer. Courts have previously accepted George T. Mighall's level of experience as equivalent to Class 1 Police Vehicle Driver when relevant.

About Me

24 hour fast response service to both UK and international clients

George began his successful career as an apprentice in the retail motor industry. He went on to become a general manager within the retail industry covering both service and sales and established several new premises.  He also became an approved Department of Transport vehicle examiner for Ministry of Transport tests.


George also worked as a consultant for a year for East Sussex County Council in the Road Accident Prevention Department and lectured on vehicle maintenance, road safety and vehicle technology at various higher and further education establishments in East Sussex.

George left the retail motor industry and opened his own practice as a Consulting Automobile Engineer and Road Traffic Investigator.

George offers a 24 hour fast response service both in the  UK and internationally, enabling him to assess serious incident scenes with the minimum of delay to all parties.

The Practice

The Practice was established in 1982 as Consulting Automobile Engineers and Road Traffic Investigators, to offer services to Insurance Companies, Solicitors, Fleet Operators,Local Authority Trading Standards' Departments and private individuals.

The main ethos of the Practice remains the provision of accurate and detailed reports, fully anticipating the needs of our clients.

The Practice also specialises in international coach crashes, where injury and fatalities are sustained to passengers. Work undertaken also includes inspection of high value and specification vehicles that have sustained damage, with examples of this type of work including travelling outside of the UK to fire engine manufacturers, coach manufacturers and inspection of exceptionally heavy haulage vehicles/trailers with multiple axles that have sustained damage.

This Practice's expertise is called upon globally when serious incidents occur, often for high profile cases reported in the national and international press. This work includes liaising with officials /British Consul of that country in order to assist in the investigation. The Practice offers a 24-hour worldwide fast response

Coach crash investigations involving the fatalities of British citizens in France, Belgium, Germany, Holland, Spain, Turkey, Austria, South Africa, Gran Canaria and Northern Ireland.

Professional opinion on United States military vehicles damaged while in transit by cargo ship in heavy seas, necessitating travel to the US to swear a deposition.

Examination of motor vehicles involved in the smuggling of drugs and importation of illegal immigrants into the UK. Investigation and reconstruction of major accidents, including inspection of allegedly defective vehicles.

Two cases of attempted murder of a police officer with a motor vehicle.

Two cases of murder and one case of attempted murder with a motor vehicle.

Examination of high value UK fire authority vehicle undergoing specialist repair in Italy and Germany.

Retained as consultant by the East Sussex Fire Authority to examine, value, and advise on 20 fire vehicles (including 9 front-line appliances). Subsequently written off having been damaged by explosion at firework factory incident, Ringmer in 2006.

Instructions involving high value vintage and classic cars (oldest vehicle 1902 Peugeot) with estimating, supervision and authorising of repairs.

Investigation and valuation of fire damage to 39 service buses (pictured) following arson attack including chassis number verifcation in order to identify each vehicle.

Criminal prosecution of the supply of motor vehicles in a dangerous or defective condition.

Defence of those charged with dangerous and careless driving.

Defence of a fireman and a police officer charged with driving without due care and attention and dangerous driving.

Civil claims concerning injuries incurred whilst working with and carrying out repairs to motor vehicles.
